Indigenous to the Philippines and called “manila hemp”, it is the strongest of natural fibers that come from the banana family.  There are variations in fibers from glossy, lustrous to coarse. 
This distinctive woven floor covering is inherently fire retardant and only natural pigments are used to dye the rug.
